A woman, identified only as Yang, has received a four-year prison sentence in Seoul for extorting South Korean football star Son Heung-min. Yang was charged with demanding 300 million won from Son in 2024, after sending him an ultrasound image and alleging the baby was his, seeking payment for her silence.
Further attempts to extort money were made when Yang collaborated with a man named Yong. The Seoul central district court stated that Yang had "lied" to Son, despite not confirming the paternity of the child she was carrying. Yong, who confessed to his involvement, was sentenced to two years imprisonment.
Son Heung-min, celebrated as one of Asia's greatest footballers, recently transitioned from Tottenham to LAFC. The 33-year-old has since made a significant impact at his new club, scoring 12 goals in 13 matches, reinforcing his status as a prominent figure in the sport.
