In Thrissur district, an 89-year-old man, Krishnan, was allegedly beaten to death by his son, Radhakrishnan, on the night of July 20. The incident occurred following an ongoing property dispute, which had led to court intervention regarding maintenance payments.
Investigators initially treated the death as unnatural after Krishnan was found at his home on July 21. A post-mortem revealed a fatal head injury from a hard object. Evidence suggested an entry into the house before the attack.
Radhakrishnan, who lived nearby, reportedly argued with his father on the night of the incident. Police state that in a fit of rage, Radhakrishnan allegedly attacked his father with a hammer, then left believing him to be merely unconscious.
Radhakrishnan was taken into custody on Wednesday and his arrest was formally recorded after interrogation. He was subsequently taken to the victim's house for evidence collection.
