A heartbroken mother is mourning the death of her 21-year-old son, Jamarrion Griffin, who succumbed to injuries from a shooting incident that occurred on Thursday, March 6, 2026. Griffin, known as Jay, was at the residence to play video games with cousins when gunfire erupted. Jay was an accomplished Eagle Scout employed at Wingstop and in his family's cleaning business, and was preparing to enlist in the Air Force.
His mother, Latoya Banks, who was working a nursing shift when she received the news, described her son as a conversational and conflict-free individual. She is seeking justice and implores the community to cease the pervasive violence. The Orange County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting as targeted but has not announced any arrests. The other victims injured in the incident have been released from the hospital.
