A prolific thief, Liam Moore, aged 20, has been sentenced to nine years in prison for a widespread crime spree. For three months, Moore engaged in burglary and car theft, amassing over £300,000 in stolen property. His actions primarily targeted homes and vehicles in Birmingham and Solihull between August 13 and October 7, 2023.
Moore's downfall was his own digital footprint. He filmed numerous videos of his crimes, including melting a door lock, and posted them to Snapchat. This self-incriminating footage, combined with analysis of his phone records, directly linked him to 13 burglaries and 14 car thefts, aiding West Midlands Police significantly.
Initially denying the charges, Moore changed his plea to guilty during his trial at Birmingham Crown Court. Detective Sergeant Charlie Edwards commended the hard work of the police in ensuring accountability, highlighting Moore's arrogance in documenting his crimes, which he referred to as "grafting," a term that deeply insulted the victims.
