- The Railway Protection Force intervened after a complaint.
- Arrested individuals gave conflicting information about their origins.
On Friday, passengers aboard the Amritsar-Purnia Court Janseva Express were confronted by six snake charmers operating within a general coach. The individuals reportedly used snakes to solicit money from passengers, transforming the train carriage into an impromptu performance space. This unusual situation was brought to the attention of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) through a RailMadad complaint, which prompted an immediate response.
The RPF launched an operation and apprehended the six snake charmers as the train arrived at Dighwara station. During initial questioning, the men provided conflicting information regarding their identities and places of residence, claiming to be from different locations. This raised further concerns about their backgrounds and activities.
Authorities emphasized that displaying snakes and soliciting money from passengers on trains is prohibited. Such actions not only inconvenience and frighten passengers but also potentially violate wildlife protection laws and compromise railway safety. The apprehended individuals were handed over to the environment, forest, and climate change department and subsequently arrested and jailed.
