Smyrna Man Charged in Multi-Month Hit-and-Run Case

The incident took place at the intersection of South Cobb Drive and Waldrep Circle. A pedestrian was struck by a Chevrolet Silverado while crossing South Cobb Drive outside of a marked crosswalk. The vehicle, traveling northbound, fled the scene after the collision.
Emergency services provided immediate medical attention to the injured pedestrian, who was then taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. The Cobb County Police Department's Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit investigated the crash for three months before identifying Sanchez.
Sanchez was taken into custody at 8:09 a.m. on February 17, 2026. He has been booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center and is facing charges for hit-and-run, driving without a valid license, and tampering with evidence. The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
