Summary
- A Chicago small business owner lost over $8,000 due to fraud.
- Chase Bank initially denied her fraud claims, holding her responsible.
- Media intervention led Chase Bank to refund the stolen funds.

A small business owner in Chicago experienced a significant financial setback when over $8,000 was stolen from her bank accounts. Jayla Stampley, founder of the natural hair care line Imani Origins, noticed multiple fraudulent ATM withdrawals and unauthorized transactions from both her checking and savings accounts.
Stampley reported the incidents to Chase Bank immediately and followed their advice to freeze her accounts. However, her subsequent claims were denied, and she received a letter stating the transactions were processed as authorized and no adjustment would be made. This left her responsible for the substantial loss.
Seeking recourse, Stampley contacted the ABC7 Chicago I-Team. After the media outlet reached out to Chase Bank, the bank contacted Stampley the following day. The funds were subsequently renewed, allowing her to continue operating her business.
