Slender Man Attack Survivor Now Pursues Medical Career

In May 2014, Payton Leutner, then 12 years old, was brutally attacked and stabbed 19 times by her friends, Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier. The girls lured Leutner into a Waukesha, Wisconsin, park, claiming to play hide-and-seek, but instead inflicted the severe injuries. Leutner miraculously survived by crawling to a path where she was found and received immediate medical attention.

Geyser and Weier confessed to the attack, stating they believed they were acting as "proxies" for the fictional horror character, Slender Man. Both were charged as adults and later found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect. Weier was sentenced to a psychiatric facility, and Geyser received a similar sentence, with both eventually released under strict conditions.

Leutner's recovery was extensive, involving months of hospitalization and therapy to heal both physical wounds and emotional trauma. She has spoken about overcoming her fear and developing a unique perspective, even expressing gratitude for her current life and future plans.

Demonstrating incredible resilience, Leutner returned to her studies and has since attended college. She is actively pursuing a career in the medical field, a passion ignited by her own experience.
