19 May
Summary
- A SKIMS-laden trailer was found with $9 million worth of cocaine.
- The drugs were hidden within a specially rigged transportation trailer.
- The trailer's driver received a 13.5-year prison sentence for smuggling.

A significant drug smuggling attempt in Europe was thwarted when authorities discovered nearly $9 million worth of cocaine hidden within a shipment of Kim Kardashian's SKIMS activewear. The discovery occurred last September when Polish national Jakub Jan Konkel was stopped by Border Force agents upon arrival at the Port of Harwich in Essex, having boarded a ferry in The Netherlands.
An examination of Konkel's transportation trailer revealed 28 pallets of SKIMS activewear. Further inspection exposed that the trailer had been specially rigged to conceal 90 packages, each containing 2.2 pounds of cocaine. The total value of the seized narcotics is estimated at $9 million.
While the SKIMS load itself was legitimate and unrelated to the smuggling, Konkel initially denied knowledge of the hidden drugs. He eventually confessed and pleaded guilty to drug smuggling. He was recently sentenced by Chelmsford Crown Court to 13 and a half years in prison for his involvement.
