- Incident was portrayed as murder to settle village rivalry.
- Police investigation found no evidence of foul play.

A suspected double murder case in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, involving two sisters, has been reclassified as an accidental drowning following a police investigation. The bodies of four-year-old Tribika and five-year-old Shivani were discovered near a water reservoir in Jampada village.
Initially, allegations surfaced that rivals had drowned the children during a community meeting intended to resolve a social dispute. These claims led to a suspected double murder investigation, prompting a forensic team and senior officers to launch an inquiry.
During the investigation, the children's mother revealed that the younger daughter had accidentally fallen into a well while they were grazing goats. She and the elder daughter entered the well in an attempt to rescue the younger child.
Two villagers also attempted a rescue, but tragically, the sisters could not be saved. Police suspect that some individuals intentionally shifted the bodies from the well to a nearby reservoir area after the accident.
These villagers allegedly spread false narratives of a murder to implicate members of a rival group, capitalizing on existing tensions from a long-standing social dispute. Approximately 21 people were questioned, and some admitted to fabricating the murder allegation.
An unnatural death case has been registered, and the bodies have been sent for a post-mortem examination. Further actions will be determined by the post-mortem report and the ongoing investigation.
