In Indore's Rau area, a 21-year-old woman named Vandana was killed by her sister-in-law, Parvati Bai Kushwaha. The motive for the murder, which occurred on Raksha Bandhan, was reportedly a remark Vandana made about Parvati's brother. Parvati has been arrested, and the knife used in the crime was recovered.
Vandana's body was discovered in a water tank outside a locked house. CCTV footage from the neighborhood proved vital, showing Parvati leaving the scene under suspicious circumstances. Investigators traced and detained her at Aurobindo Hospital.
During interrogation, Parvati confessed to arguing with Vandana, escalating the dispute, and fatally stabbing her. She then concealed the body in the water tank. The marriage of Vandana to Upendra on August 11 had reportedly caused family discord, with concerns also raised about substance use.
Police have registered a murder case against Parvati. The swift resolution of the case within hours was attributed to CCTV evidence and prompt police action by Deputy Commissioner of Police Narendra Singh Rawat. The body was sent for post-mortem examination.
