Sikh Leader Demands Death Penalty for Child Murderer

Akal Takht acting jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargaj visited Jalandhar to offer support to the family of a 13-year-old girl who was murdered following a sexual assault. Gargaj attended the Bhog ceremony of the Akhand Path and assured the family of the Sikh community's solidarity. He vehemently condemned the accused's actions as 'devilish' and called for the strongest possible retribution, advocating for the death penalty and a swift legal process.

During his visit, Gargaj highlighted failures in the police investigation, noting that officers had been directed to the accused's house but failed to locate the victim. He asserted that police personnel exhibiting such negligence should be dismissed. Consequently, the Commissioner of Police in Jalandhar ordered the dismissal of ASI Mangat Ram for his failure to follow mandatory procedures and properly examine evidence, alongside the suspension of two PCR officers.

The incident has deeply disturbed the Sikh community, with Gargaj emphasizing that such brutality is antithetical to Punjab's traditions of respecting daughters. He stressed that these crimes do not represent the true character of Punjab and urged the community to remain vigilant against individuals who perpetrate such heinous acts, ensuring justice for the victim and her grieving family.
