27 Feb
Summary
- Actor Shia LaBeouf faces battery charges during Mardi Gras.
- He was ordered to return to rehab and post $100,000 bond.
- Judge cited alleged homophobic slurs and violence against victims.

New Orleans Judge Simone Levine ordered actor Shia LaBeouf to return to drug and alcohol rehabilitation and set a $100,000 bond. This action followed charges of two counts of battery stemming from an alleged assault during Mardi Gras.
LaBeouf appeared in court and was admonished for allegedly shouting homophobic slurs while striking several individuals near the French Quarter. The police report indicated one victim sustained a dislocated nose. The judge mandated weekly drug tests, including one administered immediately in the courthouse, which LaBeouf agreed to and his attorney stated showed no illegal substances.
Judge Levine expressed significant concern about LaBeouf's perceived lack of seriousness regarding his alcohol addiction and the allegations. She emphasized the danger posed to the community, particularly marginalized groups. LaBeouf posted bond and declined to comment to reporters, stating only "God bless you, leave me alone."
One alleged victim, local entertainer Jeffrey Klein, reported being repeatedly punched and threatened by LaBeouf, who allegedly targeted him due to his makeup. Videos have surfaced showing LaBeouf assaulting multiple people after being asked to leave a bar. Despite the charges, LaBeouf was seen dancing in the French Quarter on Mardi Gras after his initial release.
The judge also ordered LaBeouf to stay away from the victims and the bar where the incident occurred. A request for him to travel to Rome for religious observations was denied due to concerns about his alcohol consumption.
