- Moore pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges.

Former University of Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore was sentenced to 18 months of probation on April 14, 2026, avoiding any jail time. Judge J. Cedric Simpson stated that incarceration is reserved for individuals posing a risk to society or unable to conform to societal norms, neither of which applied to Moore's case. The judge emphasized that Moore's wife provided significant support throughout the ordeal.
Moore was also ordered to have no contact with the former University of Michigan staff member who had accused him of breaking into her apartment in December 2025. He is prohibited from consuming alcohol, recreational marijuana, or any illegal substances, and will undergo random testing. Additionally, Moore must pay over $1,000 in fines and court costs.
Earlier, on March 6, 2026, Moore had pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of malicious use of a telecommunications device and trespassing. The initial felony charges of home invasion, stalking, and breaking and entering were dropped. Prosecutors cited evolved evidence and consultation with the victim's representatives for the decision, stating insufficient evidence for a domestic violence charge related to the December 10, 2025 incident.
Moore was fired by the University of Michigan on December 10, 2025, following an internal investigation into an "inappropriate relationship." He was subsequently accused of breaking into the staff member's apartment and making threats before his arrest.
