Ex-Michigan Coach Moore's Charges Dropped
6 Mar
Summary
- Felony charges dropped against former Michigan coach Sherrone Moore.
- Moore pleaded no contest to new misdemeanor charges of malicious use of device and trespassing.
- A sentencing date is scheduled for April 14 in Michigan.

Former University of Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore had felony charges of home invasion, stalking, and breaking and entering dropped on Friday, March 6. He appeared in a Michigan courtroom and entered a plea of no contest to two new misdemeanor charges: malicious use of a telecommunications device in the context of a domestic relationship and trespassing.
First Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Kati Rezmierski stated the decision resulted from a review of "additional evolved evidence and investigation" and discussions with the victim's representatives. She clarified that there was insufficient evidence to prove domestic violence occurred on December 10, 2025, the date of Moore's arrest.
Moore, 40, was initially arrested shortly after his termination from the University of Michigan due to an "inappropriate relationship" with a staff member. Allegations included breaking into the staff member's residence and making threats.
His attorney, Ellen Michaels, argued that the initial charges were unfounded. Judge J. Cedric Simpson denied a motion to remove a GPS tracking order pending a probation officer interview. A sentencing date has been scheduled for April 14.
