In Shamli, police have labeled social media posts linking the Gogi gang to the murder of Haryanvi singer Ankit Baliyan as a publicity stunt. Baliyan, 35, was shot and killed in public on August 26. Days later, on August 31, police engaged in an encounter that resulted in the deaths of two suspects, identified as Mohit and Sumit.
The investigation continues for two other suspects, Satyam and Aryan, along with alleged conspirators, including Bholu Shahpuriya. Following the encounter, an Instagram account linked to Shahpuriya posted claims questioning the police narrative and Baliyan's innocence. Another account, allegedly belonging to Satyam, posted a threatening video.
Shamli SP N P Singh confirmed that posts connecting the accused to the Gogi gang were false and emphasized increased online surveillance. Legal action against gang members will be intensified. Baliyan's family has expressed faith in the police and requested financial aid and protection, which has been provided.
