Sex Offender Arrested Before Wedding!
19 Apr
Summary
- Man arrested just before his wedding ceremony.
- Groom failed to disclose sex offender status.
- Bride declared legally incompetent and pregnant.

Bradley D. Armstrong, 66, was arrested just hours before his scheduled wedding in Indiana. Police apprehended him as he was preparing to marry a 22-year-old woman. The arrest stemmed from allegations that Armstrong, a convicted child molester, failed to disclose his violent sex offender status on the marriage license application. This omission constitutes a level 6 felony in Indiana.
Further complicating the situation, a court filing sought to prevent the marriage due to the bride's legal incompetence and pregnancy. The bride, who has several complex medical issues including autism and fetal alcohol syndrome, was declared incompetent in 2021, with her parents appointed as legal guardians. County Clerk Heather Stevens took action, expressing confidence that the court would intervene.
Armstrong's office has refused to issue a marriage license, citing state law that prohibits licensing individuals legally judged as incompetent. Armstrong was released on a $750 cash bond the day after the planned March 17 wedding. The court holds the authority to override decisions made by the parents in such cases.
