A U.S. Secret Service agent, Marquez Christopher Pinder, and two associates have been arrested and charged with violent felonies in Miami related to a fraternity hazing incident. The alleged beatings occurred in April and resulted in two individuals being hospitalized with severe injuries.
Authorities uncovered evidence of prolonged beatings with canes and paddles. One victim sustained injuries requiring skin grafts and suffered kidney damage, while the other needed a breathing tube. Both victims' injuries, had they not received emergency treatment, could have been fatal.
Pinder, described as a "dean of pledges" for a local Kappa Alpha Psi chapter, has been with the Secret Service since 2023. The agency confirmed its full cooperation with the investigation and has placed Pinder on administrative leave.
Charges include felony counts of hazing with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery, and attempted manslaughter. Florida law classifies hazing resulting in serious injury or death as a felony, a measure strengthened after a 2001 student death.
