Man Punches Dying Seagull on Cornwall Beach

Police are investigating an alleged incident where a man was seen punching a seagull on a beach in St Ives, Cornwall. The event reportedly took place on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 10. Social media posts indicated the bird had swooped towards the man's food.

Witnesses described the seagull being gripped and punched, later found in a distressed state. Concerns were raised about the bird's severe injuries, although it was later seen moving.

Devon and Cornwall Police have received a report about the incident and are appealing for witnesses and any relevant CCTV footage. They stated the matter was not reported directly by anyone present at the scene.

Under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, it is illegal to intentionally kill or injure any seagull in the UK. Police are urging anyone with information to contact them.
