Scranton Man Jailed for Post-Parade Shooting

A man has received a prison sentence of up to 20 years for shooting his former girlfriend after the city's St. Patrick's Parade. The 28-year-old was convicted of aggravated assault and possessing a firearm, offenses committed while he was already on state parole.

Investigators determined the shooting happened from a vehicle as the victim stood with a group of people. She sustained a calf injury but has since recovered. The perpetrator's prior convictions include drug possession with intent to deliver and illegal firearm possession.

Authorities emphasized that the sentence reflects a strong stance against individuals who re-offend while under court supervision. The District Attorney stated that maximum sentences will be pursued to ensure accountability and protect the public.
