Grieving Family's 14-Year Fight for Answers Ends in Heartbreak

The tragic case of Ellen Greenberg, a 27-year-old schoolteacher whose 2011 stabbing death was ruled a suicide by Philadelphia authorities, has taken a heartbreaking turn. After 14 years of relentless efforts by Greenberg's family to uncover the truth, the city has once again stood by its controversial decision.

On January 26, 2011, Greenberg was found dead on the kitchen floor of the apartment she shared with her fiancé, Sam Goldberg. She had been stabbed 20 times, many of the wounds inflicted on the back of her head and neck. Despite the severity of her injuries, the Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office initially ruled her death a suicide.

Greenberg's parents, Sandee and Josh Greenberg, have never accepted this ruling. For over a decade, they have fought tirelessly, hiring investigators, experts, and pathologists who have uncovered damning evidence suggesting foul play. This includes indications that someone may have moved Greenberg's body and that one of the knife wounds was inflicted post-mortem.

In a bombshell 32-page review dated October 10, 2025, Philadelphia Chief Medical Examiner Lindsay Simon has now reaffirmed the city's original suicide verdict. This decision marks a devastating blow to the Greenberg family's long-standing quest for answers and justice.
