SC Man's Sex Crime Charges Mount

Desmond D. Metcalf, 38, a South Carolina resident with a significant criminal past, was recently apprehended by Columbia police. He faces two counts of indecent exposure for an incident on January 9, in which he allegedly exposed himself to two females, one of whom was a juvenile. This incident occurred near the intersection of Percival Road and Interstate 77.
Metcalf's legal history is extensive; prior to this arrest, he had been charged with 11 counts of indecent exposure or similar sex crimes within the last ten years. While eight of those previous charges were dismissed or not prosecuted, he pleaded guilty to one count in 2019, and two other charges stemming from April 2023 and January 2025 remain pending.
Currently held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center with a $15,000 bond, Metcalf is scheduled to appear in court again on March 18. Police are actively investigating further and are seeking any additional victims who may have encountered Metcalf. He also has prior guilty pleas for drug, weapons, larceny, and burglary offenses.
