Supreme Court Grants Interim Bail to Shwetambari Bhatt
13 Feb
Summary
- Shwetambari Bhatt received interim bail from Supreme Court.
- She was arrested in a multi-crore fraud case worth Rs 44 crore.
- Vikram Bhatt's bail plea will be heard next Friday.

The Supreme Court has granted interim bail to Shwetambari Bhatt, wife of film director Vikram Bhatt, in a significant multi-crore fraud case. The court described her arrest as "unfortunate" and questioned the appropriateness of criminal proceedings for recovering dues, especially concerning a Rs 44 crore alleged fraud.
Both Vikram and Shwetambari Bhatt were apprehended by Rajasthan Police in December and have since been incarcerated in Udaipur. The Supreme Court is slated to consider Vikram Bhatt's bail plea on the upcoming Friday.
A bench comprising the Chief Justice of India and Justice Joymalya Bagchi issued a notice regarding the couple's petition challenging the Rajasthan High Court's decision to deny them bail. Arguments presented included that the complainant sought films made on his life, which commercially failed.
Ajay Murdia, the owner of Indira IVF and former Indira Entertainment LLP, Udaipur, is a respondent in the case. He alleged the Bhatts induced him to invest over Rs 30 crore in a biopic, promising returns that were not realized. Shwetambari Bhatt is to be released on interim bail immediately.
