Sheriff Clashes with Savannah Guthrie Over Abduction Probe
14 Feb
Summary
- Sheriff claims Savannah Guthrie stated she has her own team.
- Investigators found blood and a masked person on doorbell camera.
- Sheriff denies blocking FBI access to evidence for testing.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos stated that Savannah Guthrie indicated she did not require his department's assistance in the investigation of her mother's abduction, reportedly saying, "she has her own people and didn't need him." Nancy Guthrie, 84, disappeared from her Tucson, Arizona home approximately two weeks prior.
Investigators have been canvassing neighborhoods and examining potential evidence, including blood found at the home and a masked individual captured on a doorbell camera. Efforts are underway to identify a truck possibly linked to the abduction, though local traffic cameras may not have recorded the vehicle.
Sheriff Nanos has also addressed allegations of mishandling the investigation and conflicting public statements. He denied blocking the FBI from analyzing evidence, including a glove and DNA, asserting that all collected items were sent to a private DNA lab in Florida for comprehensive testing.
Despite criticism regarding the use of federal resources and perceived delays, Sheriff Nanos maintained that the investigation is proceeding appropriately. The FBI has increased its reward to $100,000 for information leading to Nancy Guthrie's safe return.
