Authorities in southern Arizona are intensifying their investigation into the suspected abduction of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie. More than a month has passed since her disappearance on January 31, 2026. The Pima County Sheriff's Department, in collaboration with the FBI, is meticulously analyzing evidence. This includes DNA samples collected from Guthrie's home and neighborhood, a backpack worn by a suspect seen tampering with her doorbell camera, and a potential Wi-Fi jammer that may have disrupted her internet service on the night of the incident.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has voiced concern that the individual responsible for Nancy Guthrie's abduction might pose a future threat to others, stating the crime is believed to be targeted. "Don't think for a minute that because it happened to the Guthrie family, you're safe," Nanos cautioned residents. While DNA from recovered gloves led to a dead end, other DNA evidence from within Guthrie's home is still under analysis. The suspect's backpack, identified as a possible "Ozark Trail Hiker Pack," remains a promising lead in the ongoing investigation, which has yet to result in an arrest.
