Sausalito Manager Resigns After DUI Yacht Incident
4 Sep
Summary
- City manager arrested for alleged yacht theft and intoxication
- Resignation follows weeks of legal proceedings and family statements
- Legal proceedings include plea of not guilty and pending psychological evaluation

Elaine Forbes, the city manager of Sausalito, has resigned from her position effective this week. Her departure follows an arrest in July for an alleged incident involving a 66-foot yacht. Forbes was taken into custody at the Sausalito Yacht Harbor on suspicion of burglary, public intoxication, and petty theft.
Forbes, who had only been in her role since July 1, was reportedly found aboard the yacht and accused of attempting to steal it. Her family indicated she was experiencing a mental health crisis and believed she was on her own boat at the time. She has since pleaded not guilty to several misdemeanor charges.
Following her arrest, Forbes was released on a $50,000 bail with an order for a psychological evaluation. A restraining order was filed against her by the yacht owner, though it was later dismissed. Forbes is scheduled to appear in court again on September 30.
