San Bernardino Police are actively seeking public assistance to resolve an unsolved homicide case from 2024. The investigation centers on the discovery of a burned body in an empty field near Duffy Street and Donald Street. Officers responded to the scene on July 22, 2024, after the San Bernardino Fire Department extinguished a blaze, revealing the remains of Mario Brooks.
Detectives have determined that Brooks, who was in his early 40s, died from blunt force trauma. Although the incident occurred nearly two years ago relative to the current date, investigators are renewing their plea for information. Brooks, who hailed from Florida and had moved to Maryland, was temporarily employed in California to support his family.
His last known location was the Candlewood Suites hotel in Loma Linda, which is approximately 11 miles from where his body was found. No suspect or motive has been identified as the San Bernardino Police Department continues its efforts to solve this case.
