Milma Ghee Probe: Rs 2.27 Crore Loss Alleged
17 Aug
Summary
- Vigilance team seized records from TDB and Milma offices.
- Alleged loss of Rs 2.27 crore in ghee supply contract.
- Court satisfied with ongoing investigation and adjourned hearing.

The vigilance team investigating the alleged misappropriation of ghee supplied by Milma for the Sabarimala Sannidhanam during the 2025-26 pilgrimage season has reported significant progress. Records were seized from multiple offices belonging to the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) and Milma, including locations in Sabarimala, Thiruvananthapuram, and Pathanamthitta.
Numerous witnesses have also been questioned as part of the ongoing probe. The investigation stems from a report by the Sabarimala special commissioner, which indicated that the TDB may have caused a loss of Rs 2.27 crore. This alleged loss occurred by circumventing the established tender process and awarding the ghee supply contract to Milma, rather than a private dairy from Tamil Nadu that had submitted the lowest bid.
The high court, after reviewing the investigating officer's report, expressed satisfaction with the direction and progress of the investigation. Consequently, the court has adjourned the hearing to August 21 for further proceedings, indicating continued judicial oversight of the matter.
