Madhapur police are investigating the death of a 60-year-old reserve sub-inspector (RSI), Thallapally Raja Sambaiah, from the Siddipet Commissionerate. His family has leveled allegations of medical negligence against Yashoda Hospital in Hi-Tec City, where the gallantry awardee police officer passed away on Friday, March 14, 2026. The body was transferred to Osmania General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The family's complaint details that Sambaiah, a resident of Karimnagar, was admitted on March 7, 2026, under the Bhadratha Scheme for the removal of a hip lump. They assert that crucial pre-operative tests like MRI or CT scans were omitted, despite the patient having hypertension, diabetes, and previous neurological concerns.
According to Sambaiah's wife, Tallapalli Tirupatamma, her husband's blood pressure reached a critical level on March 9, 2026. An anesthesiologist reportedly advised postponing the surgery due to potential severe complications, including stroke. However, the surgery proceeded on March 10, 2026.
Post-operation, Sambaiah was moved to a general ward, not the ICU. Severe bleeding was soon observed, necessitating emergency surgery. Subsequently, he was admitted to the ICU, where scans indicated a massive stroke. His condition deteriorated, with reported brain damage escalating from 50% to 90%, leading to brain failure and his death despite resuscitation efforts.
The family has demanded a thorough investigation into potential medical protocol violations and misuse of the Bhadratha Scheme. The Madhapur police have registered a case under Section 194 (suspicious death) based on the complaint. Yashoda Hospitals stated there was no wrongdoing or procedural lapse on their part.
