A domestic help has been arrested by Mumbai Police in connection with an alleged theft at the Churchgate residence of Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel's parents. The stolen items include gold and diamond jewellery estimated to be worth approximately Rs 5 lakh.
The accused, Seema Ghate, a domestic worker from Palghar, has been in police custody since her court appearance on September 12, 2026, until September 15, 2026. Ghate had been employed at the residence of Asha Patel, Ameesha's mother, for about a year and a half.
The alleged theft came to light after Asha Patel filed a complaint with the Marine Drive police. She reportedly suspected Ghate's involvement in the disappearance of a bangle in January 2026 and had reportedly urged her to return it. After the bangle was not returned, a formal complaint was lodged.
The investigation is ongoing, with police attempting to recover the missing jewellery and investigating any potential criminal history of the accused. The allegedly stolen bangle remains unrecovered.
