Authorities in Lucknow apprehended three individuals following the discovery of approximately Rs 26 lakh in unaccounted cash. The significant sum was found concealed within a hidden compartment in the trunk of a black BMW.
The incident occurred during the night of Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, when police stopped the Haryana-registered vehicle and a Scorpio parked suspiciously. The occupants' inability to provide valid documentation and their nervous demeanor prompted a thorough search.
Upon locating the secret compartment in the BMW's boot, police found 52 bundles of Rs 500 notes. The suspects could not account for the money's origin, leading police to inform the Income Tax Department.
Income Tax officials arrived at the scene and commenced an investigation. Both the BMW and the Scorpio were seized by police. Authorities are now working collaboratively to determine the ownership and intended destination of the seized cash.
