He convinced her that her father and aunt were suffering from a curse, allegedly cast by a family acquaintance. The accused frequently visited her home, fabricating elaborate stories about performing special pujas. He persuaded the woman to pay him Rs 1.6 crore for these supposed services.
Investigators have uncovered that a portion of the illicit funds was transferred through bank accounts belonging to the accused's mother. Despite repeated promises that the rituals would lift the curse, no such ceremonies were conducted. The accused continued to demand more money from the victim.
