The investigation into a fraudulent sale deed for a prime 1.4-acre property belonging to the Arulmigu Dhandayudapani Swami Mutt in Palani has been transferred to the CB-CID. This valuable land is estimated to be worth approximately Rs 100 crore.
The Palani Adivaram police registered an FIR on July 13 based on a complaint from the temple's land section superintendent. The complaint detailed the alleged fraudulent execution of a sale deed on July 6 for the property, which is currently used as a free parking facility for devotees.
A sub-registrar, Justin Manikandan, and three others have been booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The charges include cheating, forgery, and criminal conspiracy, following objections and ownership claims raised by the temple administration. The registration department had previously suspended the sub-registrar involved in the incident.
