Roofer Accused of Shoddy Work and Theft Leaves Trail of Damage

A roofer is under investigation by Greater Manchester Police following numerous complaints of unfinished projects and significant home damage. Michael Conroy reported paying £4,700 for roof repairs that led to extensive water damage, forcing him to spend £8,500 on repairs. He is among several individuals who have described their experiences as "awful, horrible."

Gary and Alison Eden, an elderly couple, claim they paid approximately £500 to the roofer, who identified himself as 'Jaymie Bell.' After receiving payment, he reportedly disappeared without completing the work and without returning. The couple's daughter discovered he was also using the logo of a legitimate company without permission.

Furthermore, Peter Gibson paid £770 for kitchen work that was allegedly never started. The roofer has been evasive and dishonest, according to Mr. Gibson. He failed to appear in court twice, resulting in an active arrest warrant. The Federation of Master Builders is calling for stricter regulations, including a mandatory licensing scheme for builders.
