Serial Cemetery Thief Arrested After Pursuit

A man accused of stealing from mourners at Riverside National Cemetery has been arrested. The suspect allegedly targeted vehicles while visitors attended funeral services, stealing various items including credit cards. These stolen cards were reportedly used for fraudulent transactions.
Authorities identified the suspect as Kurt Gruen, 47, of Grand Terrace. On Saturday, April 4, deputies located Gruen as he was leaving the cemetery. He fled when deputies attempted to stop him, initiating a pursuit that ended in Hemet. Gruen was arrested without incident.
He is booked on charges of evading a peace officer, possession of stolen property, vehicle burglary, and fraud. Investigators believe there may be additional unreported cases and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
