A man recently appeared in court following a shocking daylight raid on a family-run jewelry store in Richmond. The incident occurred on January 31, when two individuals were observed smashing the windows of Gregory & Co jewellers with a large hammer. Footage of the event, captured by a bystander, showed shop workers attempting to intervene before the perpetrators escaped on foot with stolen items.
The robbery took place on Paved Court, a pedestrian street notably featured as a filming location for the TV show Ted Lasso. Deniz Mehmet, aged 28, from Aveley, Essex, was arrested and subsequently charged with conspiracy to commit robbery. He appeared at Barkingside Magistrates' Court and is the third man to face charges related to this incident.
Previously, Robert Clarke, 50, and Lee Ramsey, 46, were arrested on March 31. All three accused individuals have been remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear before Kingston Crown Court on April 28. Detective Chief Inspector Scott Mather emphasized the Metropolitan Police's commitment to tackling retail crime.
