15 Mar
Summary
- Woman threatened with intimate videos after breakup.
- Abuser demanded money and gifts to prevent release.
- Victim pursued justice, leading to court conviction.

A 24-year-old woman, identified as Tamara from Derby, bravely shared her experience of intimate image abuse after her ex-boyfriend, Dejvid Sidders, threatened to share private videos. Following a hospital visit, she ended the relationship. Sidders then threatened to release videos of her with a previous partner unless she paid him.
When she refused, Sidders escalated his threats, telling her he would share the videos with her work colleagues. This caused Tamara immense distress, leading her to feel violated and even contemplate suicide. She reported the incident to the police.
Sidders was charged with threatening to share intimate images and sending offensive messages. He pleaded guilty and received a 12-month community order with unpaid work and a rehabilitation requirement. A three-year restraining order was also issued.
Although the videos were not publicly shared, Tamara left her job due to embarrassment. She has waived her right to anonymity to encourage other victims of revenge porn to report their experiences and seek justice. The charity End Violence Against Women noted that such offences now constitute over half of the increase in reported sexual offenses.
