Summary
- Retired Orlando Police Officer Dennis Turner was fatally shot on New Year's Day.
- Suspect Jeffrey London, a former colleague, faces murder and firearm charges.
- The shooting is believed to have resulted from a family dispute.

On New Year's Day, 2026, retired Orlando Police Officer Dennis Turner was fatally shot in an incident authorities believe stemmed from a family dispute. Responding officers discovered Turner, 65, at a residence suffering from a gunshot wound, and he was later pronounced deceased at Orlando Regional Medical Center.
Investigators identified 58-year-old Jeffrey London, also a former officer, as the suspect. London, who had fled the scene, was apprehended and now faces charges including first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. London's legal representation status remains unclear.
Turner, who retired in 2018 after 23 years of service, had previously worked as a school resource officer. He was terminated in 2019 after arresting two children under 12 without authorization, a violation of department policy requiring supervisory approval for such arrests.
