Khar police recently arrested Shahawaz Shaikh, a 28-year-old Mumbra resident, for allegedly stealing a cash locker containing Rs 2.45 lakh. Shaikh, employed as a front office executive at a Bandra restaurant, was apprehended on Saturday after the theft occurred between 4:45 am and 5:01 am on Thursday.

Inspired by crime shows such as 'Money Heist' and 'Crime Patrol,' Shaikh adopted methods seen on screen, including wearing a hoody and mask to hide his face. He was identified through CCTV footage that documented his actions and his subsequent escape route via public transport.

The theft was discovered when staff noticed the missing locker. Investigators tracked Shaikh's journey from Bandra to Mumbra using over 200 CCTV cameras, eventually identifying him as he removed his disguise near his home. He confessed to the crime, stating he wanted to party with friends.
