Rapper's Killer Seeks New Trial Over Alleged Unfair Trial
12 May
Summary
- Defense claims unfair trial for convicted manslaughter defendant.
- Judge removed from case for alleged bias and favoritism.
- Prosecutors allege involvement in rapper's ambush killing.

Alicia Andrews, who was found guilty of manslaughter in October for her role in the killing of Jacksonville rapper Charles Jones, known as Julio Foolio, is now pursuing a new trial. Her defense team is arguing that she did not receive a fair trial, leading to her conviction.
In January, Andrews' legal representatives successfully had Judge Michelle Sisco removed from the case. The defense cited repeated instances of bias from Judge Sisco, including alleged favoritism towards the prosecution and attempts to humiliate the defense team.
Attorneys for Andrews assert that several critical rulings made by Judge Sisco significantly influenced the guilty verdict. They are petitioning the new judge to either overturn the conviction or order a new trial for Andrews.
The defense has raised objections concerning various elements of the trial. These include jury instructions, the management of domestic violence evidence involving Andrews and her boyfriend, and decisions about which evidence should have been presented to the jury.
Prosecutors maintain that Andrews assisted her boyfriend and three other men in tracking and stalking Jones. This was allegedly part of an ongoing gang conflict in Jacksonville. Jones was ambushed and killed outside a Tampa hotel in 2024.
Separately, four men charged in connection with Jones's death were found guilty of first-degree murder on Friday. They could potentially face the death penalty.
