A former National Health Service surgeon, Salil Korambayil, is currently serving a 14-year prison sentence after being convicted of rape. The mother of his child, Angharad, has shared her distressing account of learning about his criminal activities.
Angharad described the moment of his arrest, recalling her shock and vulnerability as officers arrived at their home. Korambayil, who was a trainee surgeon at Royal Cornwall Hospital, had been sent home from work and claimed innocence regarding the accusations.
The couple first met in October 2016 at East Surrey Hospital. At the time, Angharad was a newly-qualified nurse, and Korambayil was a junior doctor. She was drawn to his charming and supportive demeanor, which led to their relationship progressing quickly.
