A ride-hailing company has issued a statement following media reports connecting one of its registered drivers to a shooting incident involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff. The incident occurred on October 18, when shots were allegedly fired at Shroff's car in Mumbai's Juhu area.
Authorities arrested Hrithik Kumar, 22, along with two accomplices for their alleged involvement. Rapido confirmed Kumar was registered as a driver, referred to as a 'captain,' on their platform. However, the company emphasized that Kumar had not been actively using their service as a driver since October 14.
Rapido expressed concern over the incident and relief that Shroff was unharmed. They also pointed out that it is common in India's gig economy for individuals to be registered with multiple service platforms simultaneously. The company further revealed that Kumar had utilized Rapido as a customer on the same day the firing incident took place.
The three accused individuals were apprehended on a train en route to Rajasthan's Kota, following their capture on Monday, October 19.
