On November 3rd, 2025, a Rapido bike-taxi driver in Bengaluru was arrested on charges of sexually harassing a 20-year-old woman during a trip. The victim, who is undergoing training for an airline cabin crew job, shared her ordeal on Instagram, leading the police to take cognizance of the incident.
According to the woman's post, the driver, identified as 28-year-old Lokesh, tried to grab her legs while riding. When she protested, saying "Bhaiya, kya kar rahe ho, mat karo (brother, what are you doing, don't do this)," the driver did not stop. The woman was terrified and could not ask him to stop the bike as she was new to the area and did not know her location.
Upon reaching the destination, the woman broke down. A passerby confronted the driver, who apologized, but the woman felt even more unsafe when he pointed a finger at her as he left. The police were alerted, and the woman filed a complaint on November 4th. A case was registered under the Bengaluru Police's Section 75 for sexual harassment.
During interrogation, the driver, Lokesh, claimed that he had back pain and "tried to reach out for his back with the intention of giving it a rub." However, the police have arrested him, and the investigation is ongoing.
