A survivor, who endured drugging and rape from the age of 15, has broken her silence about systemic police failures. These failures, she alleges, permitted her abuser to evade justice for more than 30 years. The abuse began in 1984 when she met Frederick Allchorne, who was a decade her senior. She recounted being held captive for six years in a Sutton, South London house. Allchorne, who was married, also entered into a marriage ceremony with her, of which she was unaware.
By age 17, she was hospitalized due to the effects of drugs, but she states she was returned to her abuser after seeking medical help. In 2023, Allchorne was sentenced to 22 years in prison after confessing to rape, administering drugs, indecent assault, and bigamy. The Metropolitan Police have since settled a civil claim with the survivor, admitting more actions could have been taken to ensure her safety and providing compensation for their initial mishandling of her complaint.
