Summary
- Rape accused faked own death by killing his debtor.
- Victim was strangled and his body burned in a car.
- Four arrested for conspiracy to stage the fake death.

A man accused of rape, identified as Arjun, has been arrested for orchestrating a macabre plan to fake his own death. He allegedly conspired with three others to kill his debtor, Rohit, and burn the body in a car to simulate an accident.
Police were alerted on February 25, 2026, to a burnt car with a charred body inside, found between Chorkhurd and Chandpur villages. The vehicle was traced to Arjun, who had purchased it on February 16, 2026.
Arjun confessed that he hatched the plan to avoid life imprisonment in an ongoing rape case filed against him in Dehradun. He had lent money to Rohit, who owed him approximately Rs 1.7 lakh and failed to repay.
On February 24, 2026, Arjun and his accomplices allegedly intoxicated Rohit, strangled him with a muffler, and placed his body in the driver's seat. They then set the car ablaze after tampering with a wheel bolt to make it appear as a mishap.
Arjun, who sustained minor burns, later altered his appearance and used a SIM card under another person's name to conceal his identity. He had also instructed his brother to file a missing person report. All four accused were arrested near the Badkala flyover on February 28, 2026.
