Rana Daggubati Questioned by Telangana SIT in Betting App Probe
16 Nov
Summary
- Rana Daggubati appears before Telangana SIT for questioning
- 25 celebrities accused of promoting illegal betting apps
- Vijay Deverakonda and Prakash Raj clarify their endorsement roles

On November 12, 2025, actor Rana Daggubati cooperated fully with the Telangana Special Investigation Team (SIT) as part of their ongoing probe into the alleged promotion of an online betting app. After the questioning session, Daggubati briefly addressed the media, stating his commitment to using the right channels to communicate the appropriate message about gaming and gaming apps.
Earlier this year, the Telangana Police had filed a First Information Report (FIR) naming 25 celebrities and influencers, including Daggubati, Prakash Raj, Vijay Deverakonda, and Manchu Lakshmi, for allegedly promoting illegal betting and gambling apps through their social media platforms. The FIR was registered after a petition filed by a 32-year-old businessman, who claimed these promotions encouraged betting activity among the public.
In response, Deverakonda clarified that he had only endorsed skill-based gaming, not betting, and only in regions where such games were legally permitted. Prakash Raj also addressed the issue, explaining that he had previously agreed to promote a gaming app but soon felt it did not align with his conscience, and he declined to renew the contract.
The investigation into the alleged promotion of illegal betting apps by these public figures is still ongoing as of November 16, 2025.
