Beginning February 1, Rajasthan Police will exclusively process all medical legal and post-mortem reports digitally. This significant shift is mandated by the Rajasthan high court, which has ordered the exclusive use of the MedLEaPR software and the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) for all related procedures. Consequently, any handwritten medico-legal case (MLC) or post-mortem reports will be treated as invalid by police stations and hospitals across the state. The police headquarters has issued comprehensive guidelines to ensure uniform adherence to these new digital protocols. Strict accountability measures are in place, with station house officers, investigating officers, and district superintendents of police responsible for compliance. In Jaipur and Jodhpur commissionerates, higher officials will also share accountability for any breaches. This move is anticipated to streamline processes, expedite investigations, and safeguard the integrity of evidence by eliminating the risk of tampering with records during judicial proceedings.
