Rajasthan Jails Promote 7 Women Officers to Jailor Roles

On September 29, 2025, the Rajasthan Jail Department announced a significant milestone in its efforts to promote gender equality. The department has elevated 7 women officers among 23 deputy jailors to the position of jailors for the year 2023-24.
The Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC), chaired by Director General of Prisons Govind Gupta, conducted a thorough selection process to finalize the promotions. The committee, which also included Jail Superintendent Headquarters Jaipur Pramod Singh and Superintendent Special Central Jail Shyalawas, Dausa, Paras Jangid, evaluated the candidates through written and outdoor examinations, as well as interviews at the Rajasthan Police Academy.
In addition to the 7 women officers promoted to the jailor position, the department also awarded gallantry promotions to Lokojjwal Singh and Sugar Singh last month. The jail department emphasized that this was the first time in its history that such a large number of women officers were promoted to the jailor role, a significant step towards gender parity in the state's prison system.
