Elections for the Rajasthan High Court Bar Association for 2025 proceeded as planned on Thursday, with voting conducted at the Jaipur and Jodhpur high court premises. This occurred amidst a heightened security alert, as the Jaipur bench received a bomb threat for the fourth day running. Extensive security measures, including bomb disposal and sniffer dog squads, were deployed across the court campus to ensure the safety of voters and staff.
In Jaipur, over 4,700 registered voters participated in the elections for 17 different posts, including president and general secretary. Lawyers demonstrated significant enthusiasm, queuing early to cast their ballots despite the security checks. Similarly, voting took place in Jodhpur for two other advocate bodies, the Rajasthan High Court Advocates' Association (RHCAA) and the Rajasthan High Court Lawyers' Association (RHCLA).
Both Jodhpur-based elections reported exceptionally high voter turnout. The RHCLA witnessed a record 84.72% participation, with 1,813 out of 2,142 members voting. The RHCAA also saw strong engagement, with over 83% of its approximately 4,000 eligible advocates casting their votes, underscoring the commitment of legal professionals to their electoral processes even under challenging circumstances.
