Summary
- Court dismissed petition alleging Swami Ji was drugged and mistreated.
- Medical board found no evidence of drugging; ailment is age-related.
- Petitioner NGO fined ₹5 lakh for a misconceived and meritless plea.

The Rajasthan High Court's principal seat in Jodhpur has dismissed a criminal petition concerning allegations of mistreatment and drugging of an 81-year-old spiritual leader, Swami Ji. The court declared the plea "misconceived and lacking merit," ordering the petitioner, NGO We The People Sansthan, to pay ₹5 lakh in costs.
Earlier, a medical board examined Swami Ji and reported no evidence of drugging, concluding his ailments were age-related and he was receiving adequate care. The court noted no abnormal findings, only expressive aphasia with cognitive dysfunction. The board's findings substantially undermined the petition's claims.
Justice Munnuri Laxman also addressed concerns about the police investigation, stating the NGO lacked locus standi to interfere as a non-complainant. Allegations of financial irregularities within the ashram were also examined, with the court finding no supporting material.
Consequently, the petition was dismissed. The imposed cost of ₹5 lakh is to be paid to the Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority, Jodhpur, as directed by the court.
